Helping to prevent Internet Fraud and E-mail scams

Email scams

Accessing the internet can expose you to cyber-criminals. Opening e-mails which look as if they have come from a safe-source, but instead come from a hostile source, can expose you to fraud, infect your PC with a virus, or be an e-mail scam.

Webhitlocations.com have developed an application to help beat internet fraud allowing you to check if you are receiving fraudulent or scam e-mails. If you are unsure an e-mail or web-site is safe then you can you use the App to gain information on the validity of the source? The Application will read the e-mail header and display the route the e-mail took to get to you, showing where it originate from. It will also warn you if there is a chance the e-mail could be harmful.

We have enhanced the ping and trace route commands to report back the geographical location of the IP addresses The application can also display the geographical location of the Internet Service Provider (ISP) of a website or IP address. Alternatively, you can use the trace route command to show the geographical path the internet will take to get to a website or IP address.

We have also developed a web log file analyzer for Webmasters to view the geographical location of their web hits. Rather than just viewing IP addresses, you can now see where the IP address is located in the world. This can be very useful when deciding if an e-mail is from a trusted source, or interpreting IIS WSC extended log files.
